We Bridge +

Mental Health

to Those in Need

The D. Wood Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Austin, TX. Our organization is inspired after the late, Deandria Wood, who committed suicide at age 38. Our mission is to enhance awareness for suicide prevention and advocate for Mental Health reform in minority communities.
July 27, 2019, as part of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, we will be hosting our inaugural “Time to Rise” Rally at Huston-Tillotson Univ. The focus of this event is to gather individuals from various minority communities and bridge them to local mental health resources. As well as bring awareness to Social Depression. Imagine attending a rally during the 60s and experiencing that energy.
In addition, the City of Austin will present a proclamation acknowledging July as Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in honor of our foundation and the memory of Deandria Wood.
This event is free to the public with complimentary and will consist of vendors, live performance and speakers featuring councilwoman, Natasha Madison-Harper. We estimate in attendance of 500+ people.
We are seeking donations that will go toward the production of this event.
